|   |   | This is why I could live in Sitka for the rest of my life. I have stood on only three of the peaks in this photo, after a year and a half of hiking almost every weekend. Some of these peaks I will never touch because they are steep, sharp, and crumbling. Some may never have been climbed yet. Most do not even have names. I love that from the tops of most of these mountains, you only see more mountains and ocean, no roads at all. It is true wilderness. This image was taken looking east from Starrigavan Peak. The triangular peak to the right of the image is the North Sister. The distant peak to the right of that is Bear Mountain. |
